Workplace Communication

This is another spot illustration used in an online course on workplace communication. This piece accompanies an example scenario in which an automotive service technician communicates ineffectively with a customer who perceives him as being rude.

Illustration Friday - Robot

I like the way old mechanical products look. Record players, televisions, cameras, radios and so on.

Back in the days when many products were made with wooden elements, it seems more care was put into the craft and design. You saw objects with decoration on them. Simply for the sake of decoration. The products were intended to be beautiful as well as functional.

Nowadays, many products are mostly made of plastic and are reduced to the very basic functional elements (for example the assorted iPod products). I’m not saying these visually-reduced products are bad. They just don’t leave the mark of the designer or craftsman. They seem cold and lifeless.

With this in mind, this week’s illustration Friday topic is “Robot”. I wondered how a robot may have been designed and advertised in the ‘olden days’.

Illustration Friday - Spotted

Yet another big stretch on an Illustration Friday topic:

This is a spot illo I did for use in an online course on communications in the workplace. This illo accompanies some texts describing a conflict in which an auto body repairman's ineffective communication losses him a job.
